Inner Mongolia

The heart and soul of the province lies in the grasslands, the windswept plains which have supported centuries of nomadic civilizations and their livestock. It is my mother’s home province. Inspired by these vistas and the rich cultures tied to them, I captured photos of the grasslands, the horses, and the people living there. Every action carried out on these plains displays an innate ruggedness, as if each gesture harkens back to the ever-roaring hymns of Ghanghis Khan. It is true that the legends of the Mongols did not die; all on the plains continue to tell its stories through the wind, the horses, the cuts of freshly slaughtered lambs and the huts that scatter across the perpetual, relentless plains. Sometimes these grasslands recur in my dreams, the sunsets spread against the sky and nothing on my mind.
